An integrated real estate investment company has an exciting accounting opportunity! The firm has invested over $1 billion in assets including several commercial buildings in NYC and commercial/residential properties throughout multiple states of the US for over 15 years. We are looking for a financial accounting controller to hit the ground running and ensure recent software and controls are complying with regulations.

You will take ownership of financials and work closely with the Asset Manager in making strategic business decisions. You will oversee one staff accountant, external bookkeepers, and hire additional members as the firm grows. You must be a self-starter with a positive, team-oriented approach.

Title: Controller Location: New York, NY (Hybrid) Compensation: $140,000 to $160,000Responsibilities:Manage all property-level and management-entity accounting and financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, treasury management, and financial reporting.

Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, timelines, and compliance controls for consistent reporting across the portfolio and at the management-entity levels to be able to report on a consolidated basis. Prepare and review with the Asset Manager financial reports and statements for each property, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis to budget and property underwriting. Work with ownership to develop monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that align with investors' expectations.

Forecast the property- and asset-management businesses' performance for better budgeting and strategic planning. Maintain valuation models to support strategic decision-making, including forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis. Have working knowledge of state and federal tax laws to help maintain tax sensitive forecasting models.

Provide financial analysis and strategic guidance to the owner to support property acquisitions and other new business opportunities. Help manage relationships with anchor tenants, large vendors, mortgage lenders, attorneys, and tax accountants. Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and professional development.

Provide recommendations on scope and staffing for back-office roles including lease administration and bookkeeping.Requirements:Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, Masters of Accounting/CPA is preferred 7+ years of Real Estate Investment Accounting and Portfolio Forecasting Accounting Principles & Financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP Current Yardi Software experience.Required* Experience with commercial lease, PnL, Financial Reporting & KPI's.
